Trumpland 03:28
Imagine I just woke up, In a cloud of gold.... Sycophants sing praise, Raise me up above. A thousand voices' noise and signs All say I'm great. Don't mistake the news for truth, There's a dark, deep state. I'll give you everything you're due Just like I promised to. Let's jail Hillarie, You bet they're wire-tappin' me, No one left to trust except for me. The tallest mountains shrinks, To anthills in my mind. Racist themes fuel fevered dreams And then your mine. Imagination builds a wall That goes on for miles. People love ferocious things. They're all on my side. I'll give you everything you're due, Just like I promised to. Putin to the left of me, Bannon to right Big orange blow-hard spoiling for a fight. Overseas I've family Building up my shrines. You're taxes pay their upkeep, No one seems to mind. Hounded by a Press That can't get past the lies. Saudi kings make better guests And make me smile. I'll give you everything you're due Just like I promised to. Trumpcare, Ryancare, Vote against me, don't you dare. Let's play chicken I don't scare.

Even So 03:07
You can say anything at all Anything that comes to mind. No matter the time, Any time at all You can frame this anyway you choose. Whichever way you pick i'm sure we lose. Even though, It's something that I think you ought to know. To get you in the flow. And even though, It happened such a long long time ago... We can see everything you feel. The rest of us just fuss and fight And find what's right. But never make the reel. Your words break my heart in two. Just what you wanted them to do. Its worked for you. Even so, Let's hold out hope that cooler heads prevail, And that that ship's not sailed. And even so, Unsteady on my soapbox so I go... Even so, It's not the place to air out our travails Being stuck inside a whale. And I would know Where silence is injustices just grow. It started quite some time ago. And I can't recall who told me so. Something that you oughta know. And even so...

Way up in the sky You'll still be crying All the bad things that you done Come back to haunt you some... Way up in the sky The view gets frightening Where pushing gets to shovin' The words back, they hurt you some I know, I know I know It was a hum drum stay at home day I was certain the same Held true cross the beautiful bay I will swear to you On a stack bibles Taller than the Empire State Building Way Up In the Sky Way up in the sky, It's been decided. If no one else in the race. Writ large across your face. Way up in the sky, A fool could lead us, The Butthead to the Beavis. It feels good just letting go. I know, I know, I know. it was a ham slam catch as can May. I was certain the same Held true cross the beautiful bay. I swear to you on a Stack of Bibles rivaling The Empire State Building... Way up high life's sweet here In the sky Sometimes I cry., When I'm all alone. Way up in the Sky. Way up in the sky, You'd still be dying. Mr. President I'm relying that the bad words back hurt you some. Way up in the sky, You need forgiving Friend to do the shriving Words back they'll hurt you some. Way up in the sky Way up in the sky

If only you could see me now, I'm like the tallest tree can be, I tower down. If only you could see me now, I'm fly the fattest bee To ever sting you, owww. If only you could hear me dear, The song I sing would ring, Right through the evening air. If only you could hear me dear, These thoughts of mine, In time, you find come crystal clear. Endlessly, the question always seems to be, What one old man with heart could part the sea. It's hard to believe... If only you could feel my love, It starts your toes to tingling, Then you're feeling - ohhhh! If only you could feel my love, Can't stop your hips to shake, The aching does you good. Endlessly, the question always seems to be, What one old man with heart can part the sea. It's hard to believe, It's hard to believe.

Get up in the morning have a think. Do the dishes in the sink, I like things neat. Could of woke you but your still asleep Cat draped across your legs it looked so sweet. An Action Jackson full on satisfaction Busy as a bag of bees and got new knees. Her smile though you know there's nothing brighter Like a shining sun in the middle of the summer Back burner of the Devils own stove. In a car somewhere I love the stores that you tell Oh what the hell I love you dear. The timbre of your voice and the way you told the tale I'm insane but love's to blame. We got our plan so we saddle up the sedan. Gonna ride away find some mountains still got snow. Her smile though you know there's nothing hotter. Like a child sauce in the middle of the summer Back burner on the Devil's own stove. I do my best to keep the peace. you do the rest outfitted in your Favorite Fleece. I get home you're glad to see you made it through your day The cat meows lets us know its time to eat. When all is said and done you're the only girl for me you set me free like a sailboat sailing on the seven seas. Captain something's happening down below the decks are flooding. Then a light comes on seems I'm dreaming all along Of a smile so bright you can see for a hundred miles. Like an atom bomb in the middle of the summer. Back burner on the Devil's own stove.

You on the couch The cat on a cloud for a while Bundled in blue, Wrapped in dreams that stream only to you. I need a smile When its all gone awry Sideways to Sunday sometimes I hear a clock tick Shift so your feet end to end The sight of you soothes me And moves me to make my amends. I need a sign just a look that confers Something I can hold on to this time. I need your smile like a drunk needs his wine Sideways to Sunday sometimes. Sideways to Sunday, you could say. I'll be your best friend or be on my way. Honesty. Who candepend on the visions you get, With a cat asleep on your feet. I need a smile when the Darkness creeps cross the sky.. Everything I see you see The same as me, I... Sideways to Sunday, you could say I'll be your best friend or be on my way Honestly who can depend on the visions you get With a cat asleep on your feet With the cat asleep on your feet

Lately 02:45
Lately I've been feeling old, As ancient as my ma. Who was born some years before The last great war, and what's more. As fragile as she claims to be, I never seen her sad. Save the time when I declined I would not go I was being so... Lately I've been thinking about it some. What would have happened if it turned out we were wrong? We'd be standing each one standing on his own. All alone. Looking for someone like you. It's a feeling that you get, When the weather's cold and wet. And your fingers grow so stiff, Well you just cry. But you don't know why. Lately I've been thinking bout it some. What might of happened if it turned out we were wrong. We'd be standing each one on his own. All alone, looking for someone like you Looking for someone like you. Looking for someone like you, I do believe I finally seen, Tranquility. This lunar face made up of space. The girl she said all serious, One day I'll lose my head. It's Monday now you're by my side, And I, I don't mind. Lately I've been thinking 'bout it some...

I hear its real quiet there, as silent as a tomb; Where you lay in your bed all day just whistling whisky tunes. What you seen what you heard in the hereafter it's all unknown. I see you makin' beats that please and melodies that soothe. We struggled to understand, separating fiction from the man. That drummer you marched to, I never got to, so sad. I admit that I laughed when I should of held you up for all to see; Goggled down, an insulated suit like the world had never seen. I don't believe that I ever heard anything Like this even once before...oh no. See you again, on the other side; See you again, on the other side. Good to have some friends, on the other side. See you again, on the other side. History happened on that Civil War snare that you saved but couldn't tune. But you never gave up, no you never stopped thinking bout what the thing could do. Full of sounds from a million dusty afternoons and evenings when the crowd come in to cheer. Save yourself even though no one wants to. You got to. You got to save yourself. But then you disappear in a puff of smoke that smelled so... Sweet as the sunlight coming down, the only way it plays, anyway. See you again, on the other side; See you again, on the other side. Good to have some friends, on the other side. See you again, on the other side.

What's the matter Mike and Dave They kiss and say "I do." The fact they love each other Oughta do. And if they want to serve As soldiers, sailors and marines I'm thinking you should thank 'em Not be rude. I heard it on the news The growers in Humboldt be blue Cuz legalizing the outlaw life Come true. Patron paid politicians They're about to change their sides Tax the snot out of Grandma's pot But won't get high. Let's try to be strong Strong for once Joining hands with those That aren't the same as us. Let's try and be brave Brave for once Unafraid of those who Aren't the same as us. Burning oil gets rising seas Gets myths that make us weak You're a firm believer in the things You can touch and can see. You're RNC PAC stitll denies What we all can see. The dumb things Donald Trump tweets Makes us weep. Let's try to be strong... Where in the hell did these Strange ideas come from? I think an elephant thunk 'em The one that's in the room with you and me.

The fog hides the pines, While the sun takes it's ease. There's a breeze that's a freezing, Yet I'll stand her taking my time. The salt stings my eyes and my ears Burn with what's being said. All that's missing was a confession, That's the trouble with a world that grows so unkind. Then the bell tolls for us, There's a rush then a sit-down And a count-down till the next sound's Us getting up without ever having said much. While I'm here, Relaxing in the ocean air, I'm all there, I'm all there, There on the coast, Old men linger like ghosts. Gathered in by a strong wind They were blown in and flown in for love. While I'm here, Relaxing in the ocean air, I'm all there, I'm all there. Inclined as I am, I'l not judge understand I'm a fan, Yes I am. With the sun setting slow, Man the air feels real cold. In a place this amazing they were praying You'd stay all night long. Then the bell tolls for us, There's a rush then a sit-down And a count-down till the next sound's Us getting up without ever having said much.

Twenty-something, When the girl made her way to the park. Where she sat down, settled in, Channeling her Gunga Din I heard. I was there, Close enough to see her breath in the air. And her silver-painted eyelids flashing S.O.S everywhere. Forty bucks will get your Car into Yosemite Park. Half that if you come on horseback But it's twice as far. Twisting trails got no signs Or a place for yer feet. There's other ways to go but You never know who you're gonna meet. I was your creepy neighbor From way back when. In the house at the end of the road That you never went in. I'd like to be the kind of Neighbor that just fits in. Not some creepy old dude Working in the mailroom named "Jim." -interlude- And in my mind it's just her and me, makin' our way. I've a feeling she's the one That I seen back at Bass Lake I catch you later maybe Say it's not but a dream. But the hello kitty backpack will Make it number six or so it seems. I was your creepy neighbor In the house at the end of the road I like to be the kind of neighbor that just fits in. Not some creepy so-and-so in a dingy overcoat Like him. I can say anything that I wanted to say. I do anything that I wanted to do. You can feel everything cause feelin' is real. You can take anything you think you could steal.

The kids stood their ground. They said no guns allowed. I was so proud. The power that comes From within just like him Going downtown. You think we're wrong We're a hundred million strong. I invite you to come along. In for a pound that's the sound of us righting what's wrong. The judge got it right. You can't take kids and hide Them out of sight. Not much of a plan. Way more wrong than it's right. After all that's been said and done, it's when We realize as we rise as one. On your hands a big fight You choose life or not that's your right. Until they snatch it away in a heartbeat And say that's their right. There were times when I thought that I couldn't go on. Then I'd realize you'd never let me go with so much undone. I don't think we're wrong We're a hundred million strong. We're a wave coming down Putting right everything that's gone wrong.

Some times I'd like to see your real face Strip away the make up join the human race. Dialation of the things you crave Would lead you deep into an early grave.

about

I began writing these songs - with the exception of "Heater Vent" - in 2016, during the presidential campaign, Donald Trump's unlikely rise and through the first two years of his presidency. Heater Vent harkens back to simpler times when me, Mike S. and John "Krash" Dennison played together as The Shits and later Virgin Release. The first three songs speak for themselves: the state of the nation. "It's Hard to Believe" is a love song and so is "The Devil's Own," and "Sideways to Sunday" too.... I wrote "See You Again" remembering Von Radics and some good times we had. There's plenty of mental illness, imagination and nonsense or call it what you want to go around, all recorded at home on a MacBook Pro and Protools 8.

I love collages. Back when John, Mike and I played together we promoted the band via handmade posters: construction paper and random pictues.
